How do I know if I need to have a root canal treatment?

A mired of causes can cause inflammation, infection and subsequent necrosis (death) of the dental pulp. This is usually accompanied with pain, a radiographic sign of presence of an infected dead pulp in your tooth, abscess or a swelling of the side of your face or just the gingiva (gum) next to your tooth. Sometimes your tooth can have a very deep caries or turn to a dark grayish colour without any pain or swelling. Usually a visit to your dentist’s surgery will allow this to be diagnosed and appropriately managed.
